About

Built by operators, not futurists

Practically Applied AI exists because something changed: the software small businesses have always dreamt of became buildable. In weeks, at a fair price. Somebody practical should be the one building it.

Why now

For decades, real custom software was for companies with IT departments. Everyone else got generic tools and workarounds: the binder, the whiteboard, the 9pm spreadsheet.

In the last 18 months, that wall came down. What used to take a dev team a year now takes a small, sharp team weeks. Most of the industry is using that shift to sell hype. We're using it to help a homeowner see a new roof or a fresh coat of paint on their own house before they write the check. That's where the rubber meets the road.

The founder

Peter Jorgenson spent more than 20 years running sales, marketing, and commercial finance at companies like Target, Cargill, and Republic National Distributing Company before founding The Jorgenson Companies. Along the way he's partnered with companies large and small and learned firsthand what works and what doesn't. He's an operator and an entrepreneur: he's carried a quota, owned a P&L, and sat in the chair where software either helps you or wastes your evening.

Practically Applied AI is his answer to a simple observation: small businesses don't need more technology. They need their problems solved.

TJC shield A TJC company

Part of The Jorgenson Companies, a permanent-equity firm that holds forever.

That matters for one practical reason: your software vendor will still exist in ten years. No venture clock, no pivot, no acquisition that sunsets your product. We're headquartered in Carmel, Indiana, we answer the phone, and we plan in decades. Meet the parent company.

What we believe

The short version

Problems before technology

We talk about your business more than we talk about software or AI. If a sentence sounds like a keynote, we delete it.

Weeks, not quarters

Speed is a feature. Don't let perfect get in the way. Ship the solution, then sharpen it in the real world, ridiculously fast, as you need it.

Absurd value, on purpose

The economics changed; the customer should get the benefit. Fair, transparent pricing that makes the decision easy.

Here for decades

We inherit the TJC standard: reputation over any single deal, relationships over transactions, long-term over everything.
